THE BIID PROFESSIONAL PATHWAY

The BIID Professional Pathway is a fully inclusive 6 year route to professional competence that recognises time spent in both education and experience. After completing the Pathway, a candidate can become a BIID Registered Interior Designer.

Whilst in working practice, candidates on the Pathway complete the BIID Development Diaries where they record their own professional development, against a set of clearly defined competencies. The Pathway will enable the designer to take responsibility for their own development, while being supported and guided through the process via a range of support including mentoring, live events and online learning.

How will the Pathway benefit me?

  • Support for the BIID Professional Pathway will be provided by the BIID Professional Pathway team who will be able to answer your questions and provide guidance, when needed.
  • You will be able to formally validate your professional competence and clearly demonstrate to employers, colleagues and clients that you have met the leading national professional benchmark for interior design.
  • You will be able to enjoy all the additional benefits of BIID membership such as networking, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) events, legal advice and mentoring.
  • Once you have completed the Pathway, in addition to becoming a BIID Registered Interior Designer you will be listed on the ‘Find a Designer’ search engine where potential clients can find you. You will also receive client referrals directly to your inbox.
