The only event in the UK to focus solely on interior and exterior surfaces, Surface Design Show, returns to London’s Business Design Centre 7-9 February 2017.

Bringing together designers, architects and specifiers to immerse themselves in the latest materials for the built environment and gain new insights, the 2017 Show is full of new ideas as well as firm favourites and 100's of products and materials.

Highlights include:

  • The Preview Evening Live Debate – kick-starting the event is the popular preview evening, where previous speakers have included RIBA Presidents Sun and Prasad and Angela Brady; London Mayor Ken Livingstone; Maria Smith of Studio Weave; and Peter Murray of New London Architecture.
  • Surface Design Show PechaKucha – join Phil Coffey of Coffey Architects and ten of his contacts and colleagues for this exciting presentation format, where presenters will show 20 images, each for 20 seconds.
  • Surface Design Awards – displaying and rewarding progressive design and innovative surfaces. Meet the winners as the ceremony takes place on the Thursday of the Show.

Surface Design Show 2017 also hosts a regular programme of cutting-edge content on the Main Stage. Home of the headline acts, the Main Stage speakers cover everything from sustainable materials to the best textures for hospitality design.

Catch BIID member Arianne Steinbeck, Managing Director of London based design practice RPW discuss: A Sense of Place? Cultural identity and hospitality design on the mainstage, 12.45 - 1.30pm, Thursday 9 February.

You’ll also be able to explore Stone Gallery, officially supported by Stone Federation GB, it reflects the importance of the rapidly growing stone market in the UK. Plus, on the second day of the event visitors can listen in at The Stone Hub where they’ll be a rolling programme on the skills involved when specifying stone finishes.

Also returning is Light School, presented by Light Collective and supported by the Institution of Lighting Professionals, which has successfully educated and inspired attendees on the important relationship between light and surfaces since 2014. A stellar line-up of speakers at Light Talks 2017 will ensure that everyone attending is set to ‘graduate’ in the lighting world.
