WHY USE A BIID REGISTERED INTERIOR DESIGNER?

Unlike 'architect', 'interior designer' is not a protected term in the UK and therefore anyone is able to set up a practice and call themselves an interior designer regardless of qualifications or experience.

When you hire a BIID Member you can be sure that designer has met exceptionally high standards of professionalism and competence. To become a Member, a designer must:

  • Have completed the BIID Professional Pathway, a rigorous national standard for professional competence
  • Have at least 6 years of relevant education and practical experience
  • Have current and adequate professional indemnity and public liability insurance
  • Fulfil the Institute's annual Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirement
