BIID HOSTS FIRST CPD PROVIDER SHOWCASE

Published on

The British Institute of Interior Design (BIID) is celebrating the resounding success of its inaugural CPD Provider Showcase. Eight CPDs were delivered to an audience of 60 BIID members at the Goldsmith’s Centre in Farringdon, London on the 26 March 2015.

The BIID CPD Provider Showcase created a unique opportunity for interior design professionals to share expertise and to refresh their industry knowledge. The Continuing Professional Development sessions were delivered to a packed audience of BIID members at the modern, light and airy Goldsmith’s Centre by CPD Providers accredited with the BIID.

The day was split into eight 45-minute speaking slots in total, covering a vast range of different subjects with each speaker sharing their own specialist industry knowledge and information with the audience. These discussions were interspersed by several networking opportunities throughout the day, giving attendees the chance to meet other designers and BIID CPD Providers.

Speakers at the CPD Provider Showcase included:

·         Luca Trioschi from Effegibi, who introduced designers to wellness and spa installations and the design possibilities that can be achieved in both residential and professional settings

·         Adam Crease Shipping’s Alistair Rogers, who provided insider knowledge on logistics

·         Paul Bettsworth of Spiral Cellars, who provided the audience with a thorough understanding of the optimal conditions required for the storage of wine

·         Cristiane Kopp from Roca, who showed designers how to identify factors affecting both product development and bathroom designs

·         Alistair Hughes of Savoir Beds who provided a view into the making of a luxury bed including materials and craftsmanship

·         Graham Diggins from Junckers Ltd, who advised on understanding a client’s brief

·         Babs Moore representing Amina Technologies, explored how specifying audio systems in an integrated way can create a continuous design environment

·         Dawn Roads from Aga, who introduced the audience to cast iron and AGA cookers

BIID CPD Director, Susie Rumbold, commented: “We were delighted to welcome BIID members to the first CPD Provider Showcase. It was a fantastic opportunity for members to update their professional skills, engage with experts in the industry and ensure they are following best practice. I would like to thank all of the CPD providers who spoke on the day. Following the success of this first event, we look forward to offering further  CPD showcases in the near future.”

“It is very rare to get as many as 60 Interior Designers together in one room,” explains Graham Diggins, Area Sales Manager at Junckers Ltd. “This is why the BIID CPD showcase was such a brilliant idea, which has proved valuable to Junckers, being able to get in front of so many designers in one sitting. I truly believe these events will prove extremely popular and we look forward to continuing our support for the BIID.”

“The organisation and turn out for this event has been brilliant,” says Babs Moore, Director at Amina Technologies.

“We decided to take part in the BIID’s CPD showcase to better educate and inform interior designers on the possibilities that are available to them in the luxury bed sector,” explains Jessica Maisey, Business Development Manager at Savoir Beds.

“For me it was about giving additional knowledge to interior designers - logistics is an extremely important part of the design process, but is not always at the forefront of the designers planning,” explains Alistair Rogers from Adam Crease Shipping. “These CPD days are a great opportunity for us to share our information on the sector we specialise in, whilst it also gives us the opportunity to meet with designers we have been trying to reach for a while. It is a fantastic networking and educating opportunity for all parties involved.”

The event was free for Full BIID Members and Associates to attend, earning members 12 CPD Points for attending - over half the 20 point minimum required of members for the year.
