CSCS (PQP) Cards
Members can apply for a Professionally Qualified Persons (PQP) cards from the Construction Skills Certification Scheme, the leading skills certification scheme (CSCS) within the UK construction industry.
Interior designers with a total of six years of combined interior design/architecture education and work experience or a minimum of 6 years work experience qualify for BIID Registered Interior Designer® membership.
Those with a Diploma (validated by a UK university)/Foundation Degree/HND in Interior Design, Interior Architecture or Architecture will be able to count their qualification as 2 years of the required 6 years and those with a BA (validated by a UK university)/BSc/MA/MDes in Interior Design, Interior Architecture or Architecture will be able to count their qualification as 3 years of the required 6 years. Additional years should be made up with work experience.
Must carry relevant professional insurances i.e. Professional Indemnity and Public Liability insurance
Must attend the Registration Assessment in person to present one complete project. This Registration Assessment aims to underpin and evidence your knowledge of professional practice in conjunction with the BIID Code of Conduct. The Registration Assessment can also be conducted via Zoom.
Applicants are required to complete the online application form and include details of their education, work experience and areas of expertise.

You will also be required to upload the following information to your application:
- A copy of your professional qualification (If relevant)
- Colour portrait photograph
Once your current level of work experience and education has been assessed, you will be invited to attend the Registration Assessment in person. You will need to show via a complete design project, how you have researched and developed an interior design project for a client complete with an analysis of their requirements. Candidates must submit all documents electronically and present their projects via Zoom.
If you are not able to meet the criteria for the registration assessment you may apply to become an Associate or Provisional Associate member (depending on your professional qualifications) until you are ready to upgrade your membership to BIID Registered Interior Designer®.
BIID Registered Interior Designer membership costs *£420 + VAT per year. Membership dues are based on the calendar year (April - March). Memberships are pro-rated on a monthly basis. *If you switch to paying by direct debit you can spread your payments over the year by a direct debit collection only. If payment is made by BACS/Credit or Debit card, the full invoice amount must be paid. Fees are reviewed annually.
INTERNATIONAL DUAL MEMBER
If you are a member of one of the following organisations and you are located outside of the UK, you may apply for International Dual Membership. International Dual members hold the same status as a full Member or Associate with the exception of a Website Profile and Client Referrals.
- Member or Associate of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA)
- Member of the Association of Interior Designers and Decorators of Russia (ADDI)
- Member or Associate of the Association of Professional Interior Designers (APID)
