Event description
Clerkenwell is home to more creative businesses and architects per square mile than anywhere else on the planet, making it truly one of the most important design hubs in the world. To celebrate this rich and diverse community, Clerkenwell Design Week has created a showcase of leading UK and international brands and companies presented in a series of showroom events, exhibitions and special installations that take place across the area.
Celebrating its 7th year in May 2016 (24-26) the award-winning CDW has firmly established itself as the UK’s leading independent design festival and annually attracts the international design community to this small area of London for three days of exciting events. In 2015, the design community flocked to Clerkenwell with 35,414 attendees and over 300 exhibiting brands.
Clerkenwell Design Week’s programmed series of talks, discussion and debates have become a world-class arena in which to introduce and discuss new products, raise industry issues and network with fellow A&D professionals. These programmed and specially created events take place across the participating showrooms and fringe venues at CDW.
Designers involved in programme previously have included Michael Young, David Adjaye, Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby, Jake Dyson, Sebastian Cox, Todd Bracher, Patricia Urquiola.
Conversations at Clerkenwell sponsored by 250 City Road has become an important arena in which to introduce and discuss new products, raise industry issues and network with fellow A&D professionals. This year the programme will be hosted at CDW’s new Live events hub, The Goldsmiths’ Centre and will feature a host of high-calibre speakers exploring current industry topics, including a series of salons curated by Dutch designer Ineke Hans.
