Philippa Devas Devas Designs

Fishing Lodge, County Mayo, Ireland

This beautiful eighteenth century fishing lodge on the west coast of Ireland, overlooking a sheltered Atlantic bay in a landscape that has inspired a generation of poets and artists, is a handsome structure built in stone.

Philippa worked with the owners, who were inspired by the 2002 film The Hours, and wanted a ‘Bloombsury palette’:  thus the drawing room colour scheme echoes the pink of the nineteenth century Ushak carpet, the study is a tranquil smoky green and the huge farmhouse kitchen has been done out in Farrow and Ball’s ‘Bone’ and ‘Blue Grey’.

It is now an elegant house dedicated to the comfort and convenience of friends and family and which embraces every activity.
