BIID launches income protection scheme for members

The British Institute of Interior Design, BIID, is pleased to announce its partnership with PG Mutual, a not-for-profit membership organisation specialising in income protection insurance for professionals. PG Mutual offers an Income Protection Plus Plan which will pay BIID members who have the policy a regular income if they are unable to work due to illness or injury.

Around 300,000 UK workers fall into the welfare system because of health-related issues each year. Individuals who are employees may be covered by their employers. Individuals that are self-employed will either provide cover for themselves or rely on the state to provide limited support in the form of Employment and Support Allowance. Those without cover could be left financially exposed – in the UK those on long-term sick leave miss out on £4 billion a year in lost earnings.

With this scheme the BIID is offering an option for its members, whether employed or self-employed, to protect their income for the future.

Highlights of the Income Protection Plus policy include:

  • A supplement to state sickness benefits
  • Option to tailor cover to suit your individual needs
  • No waiting period – cover starts as soon as your first contribution is paid (minimum 7 day deferment option)
  • No penalty for making a claim and no limit to the number of claims you make
  • Cover lasts until you are well enough to return to work (or reach 65, whichever is sooner).

As a further introductory offer, those who become a member by 31st October 2017 will receive a £50 high street voucher. For full terms and conditions, visit
