Sue Gifford Design

Sue Gifford is a trained artist and surface decorator, as well as being a highly talented professional upcycler. Her background is within the Fine Art arena however a few years ago, her concern for our worsening environmental situation led Sue to look more closely at how she could use her creative skills to demonstrate that upcycling combined with art is a unique way that style and sustainability can be introduced to interiors. She creates beautiful hand painted imagery, often realised from her love of adornment found on antique textiles and intricate detail discovered in nature with each of her unique creations being a piece of art in itself.

All Sue's designs are originals, hand painted in her studio and constructed with great care and attention. As well as upcycling, Sue creates beautiful fabric designs, murals and creates upcycled decorative accessories too. She works with interior designers and private clients on bespoke projects indoors and out and her items of creative reuse as well as her painted interiors are destined to become heirlooms of the future. Sue aims to reflect her client's personality in her art - whether on a chair, a table, a trinket box or a mural. Clients will often ask Sue to include a story that is unique to their own history within her design which she is always delighted to do. Sue is a registered client of the Design & Crafts Council of Ireland and showcased her work at the House & Garden Festival, Olympia in 2019 on the House of Upcycling stand, as well as at the Blue Patch Sustainability Awards in October of that year and was recently mentioned in an article in Forbes about sustainable design and premium upcycling.
