Lapicida are world class tile and stone specialists. Using only top grades from premium quarries and suppliers, their luxurious natural stone and tile products and unique bespoke services combine traditional masonry skills with new hi-tech capabilities.
Infused with their passion for stone, their products celebrate the extraordinary diversity of limestone, marble, travertine, onyx, slate, sandstone, rock crystal and other semi-precious stones. In Lapicida’s hands, these materials come alive, yielding up the secrets of their composition. Nature does not differentiate between ‘new’ and ‘old’ - a block of limestone quarried yesterday could be over 180 million years old; linking even the most contemporary interior to Earth’s genesis.
Enhancing this collection of stone are Lapicida’s other exceptional manmade surfaces: ceramics, sintered stone, quartz and a growing range of new generation and natural finish porcelains. One of the most complete collections of porcelain and manmade tiles available it includes some exclusive ranges that have been recreated to look and feel like the natural stone they mimic. Ultra-durable, with a completely predictable performance, these surfaces are easy to lay and very low maintenance.
Lapicida’s Head Office, showroom and workshop complex in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, is a 20,000 sq ft temple to stone, with floors and walls, tiles, murals and garden paving forming a backdrop for baths, basins, sculptures and complex architectural features. The workshops house both Lapicida’s traditional artisans and the technicians who operate the most advanced scanning and automated stone-working equipment in Europe.
The talented team of stonemasons work with natural stone and manmade surfaces, expertly crafting tiles, slabs and intricate stone floors for both interior and exterior applications. From historic reclaimed floors to custom-made elements for indoors and out, Lapicida also showcase their bespoke capabilities. Advanced etching, laser cut and water jet finishes offer design and texture to order, whilst metals including silver, nickel and brass, can be nano-bonded to tiles and architectural elements.
Lapicida work with architects, designers and private clients all over the world. They also collaborate with leading designers and artists such as Lara Bohinc and RA President Christopher Le Brun on projects which challenge the outermost technical boundaries of stonemasonry and stone as a material.
Lapicida Products: from stock or bespoke…
Lapicida’s bespoke stone and tile offering starts from the premise that anything is possible. They can - and do - source highly specialist products from across the world and transform them into anything from bas relief tiles to cantilevered staircases, balustrades, full scale statuary, book-matched panels, custom designed inlays and intricate mosaics. This is bespoke British craftsmanship at its very highest level.
At the other end of the spectrum, Lapicida’s considerable buying power means that they can also offer straightforward tiles of the highest quality from stock. A wide range of fabulous floors and walls are available at extremely keen prices, eclipsing the often poorer grade products sold on the High Street
