Become a member of the British Institute of Interior Design (BIID) and continue your professional development.
Membership of the BIID will give you the support you need no matter what stage you are in your interior design career, whether you’ve been practising for more than 6 years, a recent interior design graduate, an interior design graduate with work experience or a practising interior designer with no qualifications. Membership with the aid of the BIID Professional Pathway and BIID Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program will enable you to become a competent interior designer and ensure that you continue your professional development and keep up to date with the latest developments in a rapidly changing industry.
What is the BIID Professional Pathway?
BIID Professional Pathway is a professional standard for interior designers.
The Pathway has been developed as a fully inclusive 6 year route to professional
competence that recognises time spent in both education and experience. It is
comprised of a progressive Pathway which is designed to be undertaken whilst
the candidate is working as an interior designer.
Candidates on the Pathway will complete the BIID Development Diaries which provides a way for you to record your own development. The BIID will provide you with a list of all the required competencies so that you can match your achievements. We would expect you to demonstrate these competencies when you apply for full membership of the BIID. Candidates who have the required years of practice to apply for full membership will not be required to complete the BIID Development Diaries.
The Pathway will enable the designer to take responsibility for their own development, while being supported and guided through the requisite competencies expected from a BIID Registered Interior Designer.
