Graeme Smith

SPELK. is a North East studio that designs interiors, homewares, soft furnishings and lifestyle goods. Our work begins with context - how things are used, lived with, worn in, passed on. We design for real rooms and real lives, not for trends or quick impact. Our specialisms are kitchens, fitted furniture and bespoke pieces. 

Everything we make is shaped by place, memory and material: Northern industry, coastal weather, domestic rituals, the beauty of things that last. Utility matters. So does pleasure. We believe objects should work hard and feel good doing it.

SPELK. has been featured in Living North, KBB Review, Design Week, and many other publications. Recent awards include Best Startup in County Durham, Sunderland and South Tyneside at the North East Business Awards 2025. SPELK. also founded Mixer,  a networking event for interior designers and suppliers in the North East. SPELK. co-founder Kelly Smith was appointed to the Northern Power Women Future List in 2026.
