Profile

Hi, I’m Monica, Owner of West Nine Studio.

We’re an interior design studio specialising in high-end residential projects, with a strong focus on design-led interiors that are not only beautiful, but also highly considered in how they function day to day.

Our work typically sits at the intersection of interior architecture and FF&E, so we’re just as involved in space planning, layouts and joinery as we are in furniture, materials and finishes. A lot of our projects are full refurbishments or new builds, where we’re working closely with architects, contractors and consultants from an early stage.

What We Do

At West Nine Studio, we offer a full interior design service, which generally includes:

  • Space planning and layout development

  • Interior architecture and joinery design

  • Materials, finishes and bathroom design

  • Lighting design and layouts

  • FF&E specification — furniture, lighting, fabrics and styling

  • Procurement and installation

So we can either come in to support a specific part of a project, or manage the design process from concept all the way through to completion.

Our Style

In terms of style, we don’t have a fixed “house look”, but our work is often described as layered, calm and refined.

We focus a lot on materiality, proportion and balance, rather than trends. The aim is always to create spaces that feel considered and cohesive — somewhere that feels both elevated and comfortable to live in.

We tend to work with clients who want something that feels tailored and personal.

How We Work

A big part of what we do — and what clients value — is how we structure and manage the process.

Interior design can become quite overwhelming, especially on larger projects, so we break everything down into clear stages, which helps clients make decisions at the right time without feeling overloaded.

We’re also very conscious of the practical side of projects — budgets, timelines, coordination — so it’s not just about the design looking good, but actually being deliverable.

How We Manage Projects

Because many of our projects involve multiple consultants and moving parts, we place a lot of emphasis on coordination and communication.

We’re used to working alongside architects, contractors and suppliers, and making sure the design intent is carried through properly.

We also try to keep things clear and straightforward for the client — setting expectations early, being transparent on costs, and making sure there’s always a clear next step.

Ultimately, what we aim to do is create interiors that feel thoughtful, well put together and easy to live in, while also making the process as smooth and enjoyable as possible for the client.
