Profile
Since establishing her design studio in 2018, London-based Miriam Frowein has built a highly
regarded boutique practice, earning recognition for her confident approach to design and ability to
create soulful homes rich in character, colour and personality.
Her path into interiors, however, was an unconventional one. Miriam began her career in corporate
law, specialising in real estate and finance at a leading international firm. Although her mother was
an interior designer, it wasn’t until Miriam took on the challenge of designing her own homes that
she discovered a passion for the process—prompting her to leave law and pursue a career in design.
Today, the studio is known for its deeply personal approach. Rather than offering a recognisable
“house style”, Miriam prides herself on creating interiors that are entirely bespoke to each client and
their vision. Nevertheless, a number of guiding principles underpin her work, resulting in a quiet
sense of continuity across projects—delivering the same feeling, but never the same look.
A love of contemporary art subtly ties many of Miriam’s interiors together, underpinned by her deep
knowledge of the art world and a strong network of galleries and artists. Art advisory is an integral
part of the studio’s process, enabling each project to be thoughtfully layered with sophisticated and
often unexpected works, from commissions by emerging talents to collectible pieces by established
names. Site-specific artworks are carefully curated and seamlessly integrated into each space, while
collaborations with skilled craftspeople further enrich the design, resulting in one-of-a-kind pieces
that add depth, personality, and artistry to every home.
Miriam’s appreciation for vintage mid-century and contemporary collectible pieces is equally
evident, with many projects featuring carefully sourced pieces that span different periods. These
elements are combined with contemporary design, creating interiors that feel layered, timeless and
deeply connected to the character of each property. As a boutique studio, the team remains highly selective about the projects they take on, typically
working on only a handful of high-end homes each year. This allows Miriam to remain personally
involved in every project, guiding each one from concept through to completion. The studio is also
proud to win much of its work from repeat clients who appreciate Miriam and the team’s work.
In just eight years, the studio has designed homes in some of London’s most prestigious
neighbourhoods, including Mayfair, Chelsea and Belgravia, as well as a number of international
projects in Zurich, Klosters and the South of France.
Recently completed projects include a striking Jacques Couëlle house in the South of France, an
1850s mansion in Belgravia, a lakeside home on Lake Zurich in Switzerland, Chalet Aurora—a
maximalist retreat in the mountain resort of Klosters—and an Art Deco villa in Cap d’Antibes. The
studio has also completed a family home in Ramatuelle, a Chelsea town house, and several
apartments across London, including residences on Egerton Gardens and Onslow Gardens.
Miriam is currently working on a country house in the heart of the Cotswolds for a private client,
alongside several international projects across Europe
