Our work in this incredible listed building in one of London’s most important squares rates as one of those pinch-yourself design moments.
We were asked by long-standing clients to bring their unique cultural and personal energy to a magnificent London home. The architecture and interiors had been painstakingly realized by the original owners; our work was to bring the family’s belongings and artwork into this traditional canvas and make it sing.
Curating from their existing art, lighting and furniture collection, Staffan took inspiration from the architecture and setting to run an elegant and decidedly vibrant red thread through the interiors. Key pieces from Ceccotti Collezioni, Giorgetti and Promemoria were chosen for the dining and formal reception rooms to create a suite of living spaces that feel glamorous and welcoming. The period setting embraces future heirlooms from contemporary craft-masters – including the Danish atelier Overgaard & Dyrman – whose dining chairs are one of Staffan’s favourite pieces in the house.
Working with joinery specialists Realm, we added a bespoke bar to an already moody and inviting open-plan eating/watching/playing canvas. A basement dining room became a dedicated pool room, an ante room was gifted a backgammon table – and each space took its place in a house generously and thoughtfully designed for convivial get-togethers.
