Chipperfield Building

Hazle McCormack Young were appointed by University of Kent to refurbish their existing KBS building to house their Centre for English & World languages.

The brief was to provide teaching and academic space for the school including the refurbishment of their existing lecture theatre.

Originally the building was designed with the main entrance leading from the car park. However, in reality the pedestrian flow arrived and entered the building from the other side.

HMY designed a new entrance extension which was used as a tool to create presence on what is now the main elevation of the building.
