It is estimated that by 2025, over one million people will be living with dementia in the UK, an increasing figure. This interactive CPD examines common symptoms and how the built environment can exacerbate these or help those with dementia to live well. Additionally, this CPD will offer a greater understanding of how the implications of Dementia can help guide the design within a care setting.

In this module, we’ll gain a greater understanding into the many factors that can influence how we feel and experience colour. Psychology is the study of the mind and behaviour, and colour - in this instance - is linked to a potential cause of behaviour. Physiology is how the body functions – so here we also look at how the body physically responds to colour.

To understand colour, we need to understand light. Our Light and lighting CPD looks at how lighting impacts our interiors, split into 3 sections - biological, functional and emotional.

Biological -Our circadian body clock is linked to the daylight cycle-

Functional -The light required to undertake the task at hand.

Emotional - Our comfort levels within a space

In this session, we’ll explore each of these in turn to gain a fuller understanding of how light affects us
