BIID & ACID: USING INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY EFFECTIVELY
USING INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY EFFECTIVELY
IP and Interior Design - A Round Table Forum
Intellectual property plays a very important role within the interior design sector and accounts for a large part of its value. This BIID round table forum will be held by Anti Copying in Design (ACID) CEO Dids Macdonald who will explain the basic elements of a proactive IP strategy. By identifying the IP you own and keeping a design audit trail, especially when presenting to a potential client, Dids will highlight the necessity of practical ways in which design protection can be an integral part of your business model. She will also outline benefits of the ACID Design Data Bank and Marketplace.
ACID will also have one of its IP specialist lawyers, Simon Sellars from Sipara, one of ACID’s Legal Affiliates present, who will give an overview on relevant design law, trade marks and copyright and the interactive session will draw on real examples and case studies to put you in a better position to act with confidence on the subject. He will also offer advice on various IP agreements necessary within an interior designer practice.
As this will be a small round table group, there will be
plenty of opportunity to address individual IP issues and offer guidance and
advice through discussion and debate. Please contact the BIID office if you would like to submit questions in advance of the event.
ACID (Anti Copying In Design) is a membership trade organisation, set up as a round table action group in 1996, by designers for designers. ACID is committed to raising awareness & encouraging respect for IP within individual & corporate responsibility. By helping its members to understand and protect their rights, ACID is intent on stamping out intellectual property rights abuse
