WHAT TO EXPECT

Frank narratives with project imagery from a varied set of designers working across interior design sectors in the UK.

Healthcare - Gilly Craft, Koubou Interiors

Gilly Craft

Project: 'Our House' Disabled Children’s Centre, Wokingham

“Our House” is a dedicated centre for disabled children and their families in Wokingham, Berkshire. Gilly and her team were challenged to create a fun, friendly and welcoming space that needed to be at once comfortable, practical and accessible. Gilly will explain the various compliances and products/surfaces that were necessary when considering a special needs facility and importantly, the specific requirements of the children and their parents to ensure that ‘Our House’ felt like home.

Retail - Claudio Rocchetti, KIMA Architecture & Interiors Ltd

Claudio Rocchetti

Project: Brompton Road, The Flower Bar & School

This florist and floristry school began as a concept project to secure a lease and bloomed from there. Claudio and his team were set with obtaining licences from the local authority to replace the shopfront and liaising with the landlord for a Licence to Alter. Inspired by retail interiors of the Victorian era, the team set about recreating a beguiling panelled room with bespoke made-to-measure furniture crafted specifically for the industrious nature of the teaching facility required in store.

Luxury Residential - Mathew Freeman, 33

Mathew Freeman

Project: Paddington Exchange

Mathew and his team at 33 pitched, and won the interior design elements of this new build luxury residential development in Paddington, London. Comprising of 123 individual apartments and a resident’s lounge with formal and informal meeting areas, and a library space that also doubles up as an event space. The scope of the brief was to invoke the romance of the train station, referencing the art deco period. This was achieved through shaping the columns, concierge desk and ceiling coffers to be reminiscent of the form of art deco architecture and steam engine artwork. Bold art deco patterns are used in the floor finish and more subtly in the fabric choices, while artwork from the Suprematism period adorn the walls in the residents lounge area.

Luxury Residential - Marie-Noelle Swiderski, GALUCHAT

Marie-Noelle Swiderski

Project: Oceana Penthouse

Marie-Noelle and her team were approached by their client to convert two penthouses laterally, into one ultra-luxurious residence. The brief: a Hermes picnic basket in 1950s French Riviera! Marie-Noelle on the project: ‘The project was a challenge with a very involved client, the beauty of the brief however meant that we pushed the envelope on so many levels and the project was a real delight in that respect. The challenges arose from the same, needing to provide the absolute best, unique, unrivalled solution to any issue, technical, structural or aesthetic. It was a real labour of love and a wonderful result, we chose to forget the tricky bits...’
