THE OTHER ART FAIR, LONDON 14-17 MARCH
The Other Art Fair, presented by Saatchi Art, is the UK's favourite fair to meet and buy art direct from the very best emerging artists.
From 14- 17 March, the fair will return to its spiritual East London home in Old Truman Brewery. It will present 140 artists handpicked by a committee of art world experts including; Andrew Renton, Professor of Curating at Goldsmiths, James Nicholls, Managing Director, Maddox Gallery and Rebecca Wilson, Chief Curator and VP, Art Advisory at Saatchi Art.
Art lovers can look forward to a unique and immersive features programme including; the Unmissable Exhibition, celebrating the work of 25 artists who are each given the face of one missing person from over the last 25 years. All artworks will be unveiled and sold in a live auction in support of Missing People UK.
LA-based Guest Artist Gary Baseman is back, and for the first time in London will re-create the (fur-midable) Purr Room. Inspired by Baseman's animal companion and best friend, Blackie the Cat, The Purr Room is a unique immersive experience where Baseman shares Blackie’s healing powers and can only be described as being hugged by a giant cat. Also on offer will be two limited edition prints for purchase, "The Power of Purr" and "The Sanctum of Purr". Each print is an edition of 100 and is £190.
Upcyle, a special project presented by Kate Bryan, Head of Collections at Soho House, who will work with artists live at the fair to ‘upcycle’ visitors’ unwanted prints or unloved paintings.
Australian born Bristol-based illustrator Anna Higgie will create an exclusive entrance installation for the fair. Get involved with workshops; 1:1 Art Advisory drop ins & tours led by Saatchi Art curators; an Illustration Corner featuring Erin Aniker, Benjamin Phillips, Charlotte Ager and Rachel Hillis, Soho Radio providing the soundtrack; food by Island Poke, hand poke tattoos by Nara Ishikawa and much more.
Ever wanted to apologise for something from your past? Well look no further...Rebecca Mason returns to the fair with her NHS (AKA Neon Health Service) Department of Light Therapy installation The Sorry Stall, and a chance to cleanse you of your sorry sins. A selection of the (best and worst) apologies will then become a part of the ‘I am sorry’ neon to be released later in 2019.
