We were commissioned to work on a private villa in the south of England. Full of character throughout, with the most delightful gardens and glorious views over the countryside. The commission included concept work, specifying materials, commissioning joinery, full furnishing, overseeing construction and adding the finishing touches.
We had some extraordinary spaces to design in this villa, including a large drawing room, ten double bedrooms, kitchen/breakfast room, three reception rooms, ten bathrooms, powder room, utility room, garage and indoor pool with gym and sauna.
What we enjoyed the most was bringing the project to life with favoured treasures already owned and new pieces uncovered in studios, markets and auctions. These decorative finishes are a key element in an organic process. In commercial projects, it is often these final touches that help promote spaces and in residential projects, they are what help give the space that personal definition.

The client’s incredible art collection and incredible attention to detail became a focal point in our design. It gave us precedence to create spaces for art rather than spaces with art.

The light Portland stone paired with the soft velvet sofas creates a formal yet warm and enticing space. We wanted the formal living to portray a sense of uniqueness by using contemporary furniture made by British and international artisans.

The wallpaper by Cole & Son is an atmospheric reflected depiction of Baroque Rome as seen through Fornasetti’s surrealistic eye circa 1955. We have combined this epic wallpaper with the Pyrford washstand in Portoro marble and aged brass by Catchpole & Rye.

We created panelled walls and characterful timber floors to highlight the art and surrounded the pieces with bespoke joinery, including a bespoke kitchen, wardrobes, banquette area, bar.

Using windows on the doors allow the space to feel less intrusive and suffocating than a solid door can do in such a narrow space. We have also added lighting in these windows to make the narrow corridor feel wider.
