Meet Decorex Event Director Sam Fisher
Deep dive in to all things Decorex with Event Director Sam Fisher
Tell us about about your role at Decorex
I’m the Event Director of Decorex and have worked on the show in some shape or form for around 17 years. I work on the strategic direction of the show, manage the sales team, curate the creative collaborations with the Event Manager, along with the dreaded budget!. It’s a busy role, but very varied and allows me to get out and about to meet new contacts, see designers’ work and build some really important relationships within the industry. I’ve worked in exhibitions for over 20 years and Decorex is a firm favourite of mine!
What do you see as the future of Decorex?
We would love to grow the show within its home, Olympia, as its huge renovation comes to completion and will provide a real hub of activity in and out of the halls, hopefully providing a festival-like experience for the industry. We’d love to introduce new brands each year to the show as well as continuing to support our loyal exhibitors and ensure we retain our focus on craftsmanship and high-quality brands. We’d love to expand into global markets in the future, so watch this space!
You’ve been a BIID Award sponsor since day 1, tell us a bit about your experience so far?
Decorex has worked with the BIID for years, it’s a really important association of designers that are core to our exhibition and when the Awards were launched it was a no brainer that we would want to be involved. Being a part of this annual celebration helps Decorex to show their appreciation to the applicants and winners but to congratulate them on the day as well.
Why did you decide to sponsor?
It’s a natural alignment for Decorex, we are keen to show our support for both the BIID and the industry and these awards are the perfect way to congratulate the talented designers within it.
What are you looking forward to the most at this years awards?
Spending the afternoon with such talented people, hearing from some of the industry and celebrating with the winners!
