Open Youth Venue, Norwich

The scheme for the Open Youth Trust, designed by Hudson Architects, transformed a redundant grand banking hall in the centre of Norwich into a 24-hour centre for young people. All the facilities and contemporary design was heavily influenced by extensive consultations with more than 100 local young stakeholders, helping create a vibrant and welcoming space to accommodate a range of activities, such as, areas for sports, socialising and events, and quiet spaces for study, reflection and escape. Trapezoid, angular shapes were used for both the bar and the entrance dividers, with both pieces clad using white etherium® By E-Stone slabs made from post-consumer recycled glass.
