Richmond Showroom - Le Jardin de Bagatelle

When I approach a room I always go first for how it makes me feel, with colours and textures that sing. I want to create a relaxed look, and a layered look. A room with layers is like peeling back layers of history, which begins to make spaces that feel timeless.

This room harks back to a French golden era of Louis’s XVI, with the use of a French wallpaper and chinoiserie fabrics, but with modern colours. We don’t live in palaces these days, and so the panelling and furniture is more relaxed. The choice of a one tone gloss for the woodwork is for simplicity, juxtaposed with a band of ribbon... Don’t overdo it, I tell myself.
