Built 40yrs ago by a local Architect, this is now my client’s ‘rural retreat’. With far-reaching views of the countryside, they divide their time between town and country. Whilst the framework of this house is impressive with a nod to the arts and crafts era – think vaulted ceilings, timber beams, picture wood frame glazing the interiors however, lacked soul. The challenge here was how to layer warmth and pattern in a contemporary way that respected the fabric of the building. My inspiration came from the garden and specifically the vibrant colours in the planting. I wanted to create that seamless feeling between outside/in. We Refurbished all main areas in the house.

CLIENT VIEW: “We have had a superb experience with Barkerdesign. Justine interpreted our brief perfectly and the whole scheme was delivered and implemented without a hitch. She was able to include our love of fabrics, texture and colour into a unique scheme creating a beautiful environment just for us – we love it! We would recommend Justine and her team without hesitation”
