An exquisite church conversion with unique living spaces.

Originally built in 1845, St Thomas’ Church is a Grade II listed building with beautiful Victorian features and gothic architectural detailing. Previously used as a public records office, much of the building’s character had been disregarded. Yet, in November 2015 Hemdean Builders began their project to reveal amazing original features and transform the church into luxurious apartments.

The building was stripped of its unsympathetic renovations, requiring great sensitivity, innovation and specialist skills to expose the traditional design. The latest technologies and environmentally-friendly trends were combined with traditional building techniques to completely transform the building into something special.

Work completed in November 2017, resulting in nine spectacular, dual aspect, loft-style homes with soaring spaces, luxurious finishes and beautifully exposed traditional stonework. Elevated ceilings, original arched windows and majestic stone pillars are at the heart of these unique living spaces.

Harlech White Oiled Oak from the Woodpecker collection was carefully chosen by the design team, capturing a perfect mix of traditional and contemporary style in a quality wood floor. Its subtle shade allows all the grace of the traditional architecture to shine, making an elegant complement to the natural stone features. And with underfloor heating installed in all the flats, these engineered wood boards offer great heat transfer and reliable stability.

A total of 722m2 was used to floor all of the open-plan living and dining spaces for an immaculately subtle and consistent design feel.

Flooring was supplied as and when required over the course of the two year project, via Elliotts in Romsey.
