This traditional cottage sits in a beautifully quiet rural setting, overlooking a creek.  It has been a much loved holiday home for my clients' family for over 20 years, but little had been done to update it during this period.

First of all the master bedroom and en-suite bathroom were opened up, engineered oak floors were laid upstairs and an old chair was re-upholstered in a striking Designers Guild fabric, providing a great focal point at the end of the landing.

Two sofas in the sitting room were also reupholstered, whilst an old pine fire surround was replaced with granite in much better proportions.  Back lit floating shelves lighten a dark alcove, whilst a delicate print of birds and butterflies in the curtain fabric, reflects the natural views beyond.  Finishing touches include replacing black plastic flex on a high street lampbase, with pale grey silk twisted flex.
