Laura Marino founded Studio L London in 2016, bringing more than two decades of experience in creative direction, residential development and interior design to private homes. The studio creates layered, colour-confident interiors with a strong sense of identity, shaped by the architecture, the people who live there and a clear design narrative.
Studio L’s work has appeared in The Telegraph, The Times, Vogue, Wallpaper*, Homes & Gardens and SheerLuxe. Most recently, the studio was selected for inclusion in Phillip Jeffries: Walls: Inspiring Design One Wall at a Time, published by Rizzoli to mark Phillip Jeffries’ 50th anniversary.
The studio’s Grade II-listed Notting Hill pied-à-terre was a turnkey renovation and restoration, led from initial concept through project management and completion. It won Best Small Space at the Homes & Gardens Design Awards 2025. Studio L is also included in House & Garden’s curated directory, The List.
Before founding Studio L, Laura co-founded Alchemi Group, a boutique residential development management company, and served as its Creative Director. She helped shape the creative direction of projects including 55 Victoria Street, winner of a RIBA London Award, and Westminster Fire Station, winner of Best Small Development at The Standard New Homes Awards 2022 and shortlisted in the Housing and Conservation categories at the NLA Awards 2022.
This development background continues to inform Studio L’s work. The studio considers how every decision affects the budget, project sequencing, construction and long-term value, as well as how a home looks, feels and functions.
Rather than imposing a fixed house style, Studio L works flexibly across periods and styles, balancing scale, colour, pattern and texture to create interiors that feel personal, distinctive and cohesive. Cinema, nostalgia and cultural references often provide the starting point for each project’s design narrative.
Services span initial concept through turnkey delivery, including project management for listed buildings and complex renovations. Studio L also offers Designer for a Day consultancy for clients who would like its expertise and aesthetic perspective without commissioning a full-service project.
Laura is a BIID Registered Interior Designer®. Studio L holds Professional Indemnity and Public Liability insurance.
