"Shaped by the style and simplicity of the clapboard houses of New England, this elegant one-storey home is based around a light-filled, open-plan living space..." Country Living, March 2007.

This new build, designed and built by Amanda Meade for her mother within the Grade II listed grounds of a walled garden had to satisfy many criteria.  It needed to be practical and easy to maintain, to reflect her love of the New England style and  "to be filled with light", whilst the local Planning Authority required it to resemble a building in empathy with a tradtional walled garden structure. Through clever selection of building materials, colour and tones, the house is both smart and comfortable, traditional and contemporary and has been featured in editorials worldwide.
