Harnessing Colour Trends 2014/15
with Lori Pinkerton-Rolet PPBIID

Lori is a Past President of BIID and Director of Park Grove Design Ltd. Here she will be discussing the use of colour and its implementation within hospitality sector. This is vitally important as interior atmospheres can affect return custom and occupancy.  The session begins by establishing the origin of colour trends; who uses them and why. Lori will review examples of best practice and look at how trends can be effectively used in conjunction with maintenance programmes. Current and upcoming colour trends for 2014-15 will complete the picture, providing concrete information to use in refurbishment or new build schemes.

How to Approach a New Commercial Design Project
with Charles Leon

BIID board member and former chairman of the Interior Design Association (who have now merged with BIID) Charles Leon of CLA, will be discussing how designers approach commercial projects. Design spends most of its life in conflict with commercial interests, but that tension is often at the very heart of the creative process. This talk looks at the relationship between commercial interests and interior design.

4pm Networking Drinks Reception.

The BIID networking drinks reception will be held within the Design Gallery & Lounge where members can mingle with selected VIP hotel, restaurant and bar owners and study the work of some of Britain's top hospitality interior designers.  Bring plenty of business cards!

Hotelympia 2014 is the UK's largest hospitality show. It's a four day event that runs from 28th April to 1st May, attracting over 33,000 trade visitors - www.hotelympia.co.uk
