Competition: celebrate the beauty of wool

Published on

Earlier this year, designers including Kit Kemp, Ashley Hicks, Josephine Ryan and Fox Linton Associates explored the possibilities of wool in the home when they created a series of rooms at Somerset House in London for The Campaign for Wool’s showcase Wool House.

Now, BIID is supporting Homes and Gardens and The Campaign For Wool in a competition to demonstrate your design skills using this cosseting, practical and sustainable material. Winners will have their designs brought to life in the magazine and each will receive a selection of luxury wool prizes worth over £1,000.

Entrants will design a living room to celebrate the beauty of wool, using wool for as much of the scheme as possible, including flooring, textiles and accessories.

Entrants can compete in one of three categories: Professional, Non-Professional, and Student.

THE PRIZES

Living rooms based on the three winning entries will be photographed and published in the April 2014 issue of Homes & Gardens. Each winner will receive a Brintons rug worth up to £1,000 and a Campaign for Wool luxury wool gift hamper.

THE DESIGNS

Your living room will be designed to celebrate the beauty of wool, so as much of the scheme as possible, including flooring, textiles and accessories, should consist of wool.

Your entry must include:

• A drawing, using the living room floorplan, above, that shows key items of furniture in the room.

• A moodboard with suggestions for furniture, flooring and wall treatments (paint, wallpaper or fabric) with curtains and/or blinds. The moodboard can be very simple and consist of swatches and/or photos of the items that make up your scheme.

• Entries for the Student category must include a Brintons rug, rugs-by-brintons.co.uk.
