The BIID has announced a General Meeting at 11.00am on Thursday 10th December 2020.

The BIID has announced a General Meeting at 11.00am on Thursday 10th December 2020. The purpose of this General Meeting is to ask eligible members to vote on 2 new proposed documents, an updated Articles of Association and a new Code of Conduct. Rather than wait until the next Annual General Meeting which will take place in July 2021, we are holding this General Meeting so these documents can be ready for the start of the next membership year in April 2021 (subject to their approval via membership vote).

The 2 new proposed documents are:

  1. Updated Articles of Association: The Articles of Association is the governing document of the BIID. The BIID Council of Directors’ decision making and long-term planning is done within the framework created by the Articles of Association. The Articles were last updated in 2016 and we are now proposing several new updates. A fully marked up version of the current Articles of Association, showing all of the proposed changes alongside explanations as to why those changes are being proposed, is available to download from the Member Area. A copy of this will also be emailed to all members eligible to vote.
  2. Code of Conduct: The Code of Conduct articulates the values of the British Institute of Interior Design (BIID) and sets out the standards of professional conduct that members are expected to adhere to. The purpose of the Code is to promote high standards of professional practice and to provide a framework for ethical conduct. Over the past 18 months the BIID's Professional Practice Committee has worked hard to develop a new Code of Conduct that is written in plain English, is easy to use and reflects modern professional practice. A copy of the new proposed Code of Conduct is available to download from the Member Area
