CSCS (PQP) Cards
Members can apply for a Professionally Qualified Persons (PQP) cards from the Construction Skills Certification Scheme, the leading skills certification scheme (CSCS) within the UK construction industry.
Eligibility Criteria
Interior designers must have a total of 6 years of combined interior design/architecture education and interior design work experience or a minimum of 6 years interior design work experience to qualify for BIID Registered Interior Designer® membership.
Those with a Diploma (validated by a UK university)/Foundation Degree/HND in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or Architecture will be able to count their qualification as 2 years of the required 6 years and those with a BA (validated by a UK university)/BSc/MA/MDes in Interior Design, Interior Architecture or Architecture will be able to count their qualification as 3 years of the required 6 years. Additional years should be made up of interior design work experience.
- Applicants must carry relevant professional insurance i.e. Professional Indemnity and Public Liability insurance (not applicable to international applicants)
- Applicants must attend the Professional Review online. The purpose of the Professional Review is for you to evidence your understanding and capability in all 8 of our Core Competencies relevant to interior design. Please read the full details of the Professional Review to help you to understand if this is the right membership for you.
Application Process
Applicants are required to complete the online application form and include the following:
- Information about you and your career to date
- Education and training (include a copy of your professional qualification)
- Must include policyholder and policy numbers for Professional Indemnity and Public Liability insurance
You will be invited to attend the Professional Review via zoom. The Professional Review requires you to demonstrate how your unique interior design experience and expertise enable you to meet the Core Competencies.
If you are not able to meet the criteria for the Professional Review you may apply to become an Associate or Provisional Associate member (depending on your professional qualifications) until you are ready to upgrade your membership to BIID Registered Interior Designer®.
Membership Fees
BIID Registered Interior Designer membership costs *£420 + VAT per year. Membership dues are based on the calendar year (April - March). Memberships are pro-rated monthly. *If you switch to paying by direct debit you can spread your payments over the year by a direct debit collection only. If payment is made by BACS/Credit or Debit card, the full invoice amount must be paid. Fees are reviewed annually.
Terms and Conditions
- Code of Conduct - The Institute requires all Registered Interior Designer members to abide by the BIID Code of Conduct
- Application Refusal - The BIID reserves the right to refuse Registered Interior Designer Member status to applicants.
- Annual Subscription - Our financial year for membership runs from 1st April to 31st March. Annual subscriptions are due on 1st April. Individuals who apply mid-year will be issued an invoice calculated monthly on a pro-rata basis.
- Professional Insurance - Registered Interior Designers must have the appropriate professional insurance policies in place throughout their membership with the Institute. These include Professional Indemnity and Public Liability cover. Policy details will be required before activation of membership.
- Resignations - Members should inform the Institute by 31st March if they do not wish to renew their membership.
- Refunds - No refunds of a subscription or part subscription are possible.
