Collect: BIID Tour and Panel Discussion
Primary tabs
Event description
The Crafts Council is pleased to invite BIID members to a special interior designer event on the subject of commissioning craft for interior design.
At a time where the lines between craft, fine art and design are ever more blurred, the handmade and unique are becoming increasingly important to the interior design process. With an unprecedented rise in the amount of craft commissions taking place, the Crafts Council would like to explore this trend and hear from those working in the industry who have first-hand experience of the process.
The session will be held at Collect, the Crafts Council’s International Art Fair for Contemporary Objects, which will take place at the Saatchi Gallery in February.
The session will start with a guided tour of the fair and the chance to enjoy the hundreds of exquisite objects that will be displayed by leading craft galleries. The tour will then be followed by a discussion chaired by BIID President Charles Leon which will explore the commissioning process and invite a panel of gallerists, makers and designers to share their knowledge and past experiences on the subject.
Panel members include interior designer, BIID Member and Past President Susie Rumbold, gallerist Sarah Myerscough and designer/ maker duo Vezzini and Chen who produce works in ceramic and glass. After the talk there will be a drinks reception and the opportunity to meet and network with the makers and gallerists who will be featured at the fair
