The clients engaged us to renovate their beautiful five storey listed Georgian townhouse on a garden square in Clerkenwell. We helped the clients design and manage a full overhaul of the kitchen and main bathroom including revision of layouts, new fittings and a full decoration throughout.
As part of this we saw an opportunity to completely upgrade and streamline the boiler and plumbing system, moving it out of the main living spaces and freeing up space in those valuable areas.
For the kitchen, the clients worked with DeVol for the unique Sebastian Cox cabinetry (hand crafted timber – Beech & Ash).
Our aim with other fittings such as lighting , ironmongery and tiles was to complement the rustic, sustainable wood, while also introducing warmer tones & textures into the space. We also did this to mirror the period of the property, making a clearer visual balance between traditional and contemporary aspects of the home.
For the bathroom the client was inspired to go with more modern fittings that had a utilitarian twist (note the sink & stunning curved bath). We offset this with bespoke joinery, carefully designed to optimise space and exactly meet the clients’ needs.
We used small format tiles to again give a calm, homely feel to the space, using warm and tonal colours to create a relaxing space. We carefully designed lighting to be versatile for atmosphere and task.
Other works throughout the home included damp-proofing works on the lower ground floor, new radiators, underfloor heating in some spaces, redecoration throughout, including new electrical fittings and feature lighting.
