The Residency is a new concept bar based in Notting Hill London. With northern hospitality and lifestyle as it main influence. The client is from Newcastle and wanted to bring his love of the north to London in a unique venue that looks to revolution the industry and the way we think about the quintessential local pub.

BRIEF &CONCEPT

The brief was to reinvent the local pub for a new generation. Taking the DNA of a pub and revamping the concept into a contemporary version. The venue was to take northern hospitality and culture and inject it into the heart of Notting Hill. This influence was to be portrayed through its operation, music, art and the environment. The name residency was chosen to create the sense of home, being local and warmly welcoming. The venue was to offer great service with great food and drink. But rather than being housed in an old traditional setting it was to be cutting edge, stylish and relevant. A social hub for a younger generation where art and conversation meet.

OUTCOME

Design Features:

The Residency has a number of design features that make up this stylish venue. Notably the artwork that adorns the walls; all of which are original pieces from Northern artists who are making a name for themselves in London. The artwork injects colour and interest. All the works are for sale and when a new piece is introduced their is an unveiling event.

The venue has a warm and inviting feel with the teak wood wall panels. The design deconstructs the traditional timber panels which you might find in a typical pub and redefines the concept with more contemporary lines with a slight retro arthouse slant.

The lighting is ambient and creates a cozy environment that is welcoming throughout the day.

Leather fixed seating booths create comfort and a level of luxury that would not be out of place in a pub but in this environment elevates the scheme to enhance the concept.
