Profile

Carissa Warner had fallen in love with architecture at a very young age and despite constant pushback from her teachers who kept trying to dissuade her that girls should be focused on studying Home Economics; Carissa rose to the challenge and became the first female Technical Drawing student at the Pares Secondary School with the help of her father who had several confrontations to ensure that she was enrolled.

Following high school, Carissa completed a two year internship in the Drawing Office at the Antigua & Barbuda Public Works Department. It was here that she met one of her mentors Mr. Wesley James who motivated her to pursue a career in Interior Designing. She went on to pursue a four-year study in Interior Design and Architecture at Regents University in London and during her studies; she was awarded five consecutive scholarships because of her outstanding work and commitment to success. This even earned her another internship with “Baultop” – a renowned kitchen company in Europe.

Carissa soon after, returned home to Antigua and Barbuda where she took on the role as lead designer in remodeling and design development for the kitchen department of a local furniture manufacturer. It was 2015, that she decided to embrace her entrepreneurial spirit and became the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of C. Warner Design; an interior design firm that offers design consultation and project management for both residential and commercial clients in creating timeless spaces.

Since then, Carissa has coordinated several architectural details, designed and performed specified custom construction elements and implemented full interior concepts at a few memorable projects including – The Sunglass Hut in Heritage Quay, Premier Beverages Retail Store at The V.C Bird International Airport, Vino Joe Wine Bar and Coffee Shop on Friars Hill Road and the APUA Inet telecoms store on Old Parham Road – just to name a few….

It’s important to know that Carissa is on a special mission – so listen carefully not only is she working on expanding her design company to include having a showroom to display exclusive designs but she is also secretly working on pulling together an all-girls construction team.

She’s confident that anyone especially girls with well-trained eyes and a passion for quality can positively impact the world with architectural creativity.
