The I + A Studio is an independent architecture and interior design practice specialising in substantial whole-house refurbishments, extensions and complete interior transformations.

Founded by Laura and Lucy in 2019, the studio combines big-practice expertise with the personal, collaborative approach of a small studio. After working on large architectural and design projects, they established The I + A Studio to build deeper relationships with clients and remain closely involved from the initial brief through to the finished home.

We look at the home as a whole, considering architecture, interiors, flow, function and atmosphere together from the outset. This allows us to rethink how a property works, rather than treating rooms or design decisions in isolation.

Every project begins with understanding the people who live there. We explore what is working, what creates frustration, how the household uses the space and how the home may need to adapt through different stages of life. From there, we develop a clear design strategy tailored to the client, the building and the way they want to live.

Our services can extend from briefing and concept design through planning, technical design, complete interior design, procurement, construction support and on-site management. Throughout the process, we provide the creative ideas, technical knowledge and clear professional guidance needed to turn an initial aspiration into a coherent and achievable design.

We do not impose a single aesthetic. Each home is influenced by the personality of its owners and the character of the property. What connects our work is thoughtful spatial planning, careful attention to everyday life and a design that feels genuinely personal.
