THE WINE ROOM | BESPOKE PRIVATE WINE TASTING ROOM

Conceived as an extension of the clients’ dining and entertaining experience, this bespoke wine room was designed to transform a relatively modest space into an intimate and sophisticated setting for wine appreciation.

Rather than creating a conventional cellar, Martin Nealon proposed a dedicated room where the clients could display their collection, invite guests to select wines and enjoy private tastings before dinner.

The design combined practical wine storage with carefully considered architectural detailing, creating an environment that was both functional and inviting.

Bespoke open shelving was developed to display the collection, complemented by integrated glass-fronted, temperature-controlled wine cabinets for bottles requiring specific storage conditions. Additional glazed cabinetry provided dedicated storage for the clients’ selection of fine glassware.

A central tasting table established a focal point within the room, allowing guests to gather comfortably and explore the collection. Mirrored wall panels were incorporated to visually extend the space, introducing depth and reflection while enhancing the presentation of the wines.

To complement the clients’ entertaining requirements, a bespoke humidor was commissioned and manufactured specifically to accommodate their cigar collection, extending the room's purpose beyond wine tasting to the enjoyment of an after-dinner cigar.

The completed scheme demonstrates how intelligent spatial planning, bespoke joinery and carefully integrated specialist storage can transform a relatively small room into a distinctive and highly personalised entertaining environment.

More than a place to store wine, the room was designed around the experience of sharing it, creating a dedicated setting for hospitality, conversation and the enjoyment of a carefully curated collection.
