Our approach to this project revolved around an understanding of the historical significance of the property and a commitment to preserving its integrity and character. The tiling and ironwork for instance are key design features which are fitting of this period property. The local area is known for its charming village atmosphere, with a mix of period architecture and more modern buildings. Our project’s design mirrors this perfectly, exhibiting traditional British architectural charm with updated features perfect for our client’s lives. Keeping this and the building’s history at the centre of our planning helped achieve unity across the design. The client desired an open-plan family kitchen-dining area flooded with natural light to bring a more modern atmosphere to the home, catering to home cooking and social gatherings. We collaborated closely with them to ensure their vision was met, creating a space that served the practical needs of the family and also reflected their unique identity. The family’s Indian-Scandinavian heritage is shown with the muted Scandi colour palette, curated cookbooks and finishing touches such as ceramics.
