Rees Architects project

Barnsbury Townhouse

Rees Architects transformed a Grade II Listed Georgian townhouse in Islington into a contemporary home, blending historic preservation with modern functionality. A deep retrofit addressed damp proofing, plumbing, and structural updates, restoring original features like fireplaces, cornicing, and joinery. The reconfiguration included a new ground-floor kitchen, a basement guest suite, and flexible spaces for family living. Thoughtful design elements—such as a marble-topped kitchen island, bespoke joinery, and minimal, timeless finishes—balance the home’s historic character with modern aesthetics. Skylights, garden views, and bronze accents enhance the interiors, creating a harmonious, light-filled space ideal for modern city living.
