Atkinson & Kirby project

Brewdog, Waterloo Station

Nestled amongst the busy station of London Waterloo, the multinational brewery and pub chain, BrewDog, has recently launched its city ‘brewhouse’. The spot adds a contemporary and metropolitan hangout for commuters and visitors alike.

The impressive space takes an industrial approach to its design scheme, with large, metal steel beams, white painted brick and exposed piping, with the additional touch of sharp edges and black accents throughout to provide a consistent theme.

Spreading over two floors, the brewhouse consists of an on-site microbrewery, a Grind Café, cocktail hideaway, co-working space, podcast recording studio and bowling alley. Combining raw materials with modern elements to create the perfect destination for inner-city activities.

Low hanging pendant lights, marble-top tables, plenty of natural lighting and comfy, plush seating add to the loft-like feel of the café and co-working areas, all of which fit the London Southbank backdrop.

Atkinson & Kirby’s Harlesden Smoked Oak flooring in parquet was selected to be installed throughout the brewhouse, complimenting the spaces blend of old and new.

The variation in colour of the timber, ranging from rust and honey tones, provides a stunning appearance in both natural and artificial lighting. Whilst the imperfect wood finish adds character to the varying textures that surround the flooring.
