Black Pear Bespoke Furniture project

Cabinetry for a Victorian Country Home

This project encompassed a series of bespoke furniture and joinery commissions throughout the property, with a brief centred around traditional cabinetry and fine furniture-making details. The client’s appreciation for classical craftsmanship made the project a natural fit for Black Pear Bespoke, drawing on the studio’s knowledge of historical cabinetry styles and carefully considered detailing.

The principal piece was a bespoke walnut bookcase designed specifically to house the homeowner’s extensive collection of books and texts. Crafted from solid walnut, the piece incorporated a granite countertop alongside a range of traditional architectural details, including fluted pilasters and period-inspired cornicing, giving the installation a strong sense of permanence and character within the room.

In addition to the library bookcase, Black Pear Bespoke designed and manufactured a dining room bar, linen cupboard, and cloakroom cabinetry for the property. Across each piece, traditionally constructed hardwood cabinetry and joinery techniques were combined with hand-painted finishes and natural hardwax oil treatments, creating a cohesive collection of furniture that balanced timeless craftsmanship with everyday practicality.
