CAFE RENOVATION PROJECT NEAR MOUNT FUJI, JAPAN

 This project transformed a former dental clinic into a warm and welcoming Japanese-style café in the Fuji Five Lakes area. The aim was to create a space where visitors of all ages feel at ease, while reflecting the region’s culture and natural surroundings.

Sustainability played an important role in the design, with traditional Gun’nai textiles and handcrafted Nishijima washi paper incorporated throughout the interior. The space is centred around the owner’s original artwork, including a large mural inspired by Mount Fuji’s foothills. Natural materials, a restrained colour palette, and carefully filtered daylight work together to create a calm and inviting atmosphere that connects local craftsmanship with contemporary café culture.
