Charmaine White is the Associate Director of Interior Design at HollandGreen in Oxfordshire. With over 15 years of experience in the interior design industry, she has cultivated a deep-seated passion and commitment to advancing the profession. Charmaine's journey began with a degree in textile design, where she first discovered the transformative power of aesthetics and functionality. This passion led to further studies in Interior Design at KLC School of Design, a pivotal step that solidified Charmaine's dedication to the field.

During her time at KLC, Charmaine was introduced to the British Institute of Interior Design (BIID), a burgeoning and influential organisation that resonated with her aspirations. The BIID became a cornerstone of her professional development, providing invaluable resources and support as she navigated the early stages of her career. The institute has been instrumental in expanding Charmaine's knowledge, honing her skills, and fostering meaningful connections within the industry.

Charmaine's passion extends beyond the creative aspects of design; she is equally invested in the business of design and the perception of the profession. Charmaine believes that the role of interior designers is not only to create beautiful spaces but also to elevate the standards and practices within the industry. This belief drives her desire to contribute to the BIID at a higher level.

As a member of the Board of Directors, Charmaine is eager to play an active role in shaping the future of the interior design industry. Her aim is to help develop and embed professional practices that reflect the evolving field. Charmaine is committed to promoting the sharing of best practices and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

One of the aspects Charmaine finds most fulfilling is the collaborative nature of the Interior Design community. The network of interior designers she is a part of is vibrant and generous, with many willing to share their knowledge, experiences, and advice. This sense of community is something Charmaine cherishes and wishes to enhance further through her involvement with the BIID.

Charmaine is passionate about creating platforms for dialogue and learning within the industry. By facilitating the exchange of ideas and best practices the bar for interior design standards can collectively be raised. Charmaine's experience at HollandGreen has equipped her with a broad perspective on both the creative and operational sides of the business. She has had the opportunity to lead diverse projects, mentor emerging designers, and engage with clients to deliver exceptional design solutions.

In addition to Charmaine's professional experience, she brings a forward-thinking mindset and a commitment to ethical and sustainable design practices. Charmaine believes that the industry has a significant role to play in promoting sustainability and environmental responsibility. As a member of the BIID Board of Directors, Charmaine aims to advocate for initiatives that support these values.
