Our brief was to create a London base for our Client to return to from her long-term Singapore home as part of a relocation back to the UK.  Our design needed to work practically but also welcome her home emotionally.  Plus, we need to ensure we provided a stress-free experience so our client could focus on her professional adjustment from Asia back to European working.  Fortunately the combination of a wonderfully decisive client and a fabulous contractor made the challenge a pleasure.

The final design scheme combines the client's existing antique furniture pieces with artwork and accessories she had collected on her travels.   We used a warm base palette of dark timbers, bronze and ochre tones to create a cosy and inviting escape.  The lighting was carefully designed to allow the open plan living to be zoned and the addition of a marble fireplace and bespoke joinery created a focal point whilst the dark panelled wall conceals storage, a laundry, bar and secret door access to the bedrooms beyond.

    The open plan living was separated from the bedrooms beyond with a wall of joinery and accessed via a hidden door. The joinery also provides valuable storage for coats, a bar and laundry.

    With the client often using the London base for entertaining, the hidden jib door provides privacy for the bedrooms and bathrooms beyond.

    The bespoke joinery replaced contemporary shelving to create a more elegant solution and provided the opportunity to incorporate a fireplace and conceal the TV behind a moveable artwork panel.

    The existing kitchen was upgraded with new mirror splash-back and dark timber panelling which incorporated additional storage for the clients vintage glass collection. Adding oversized pendants and exquisite barstools with an Asian bamboo base to create to create a bar perch for entertaining integrated the kitchen and living space.
