Pret a Vivre Ltd project

Colourful revamp, London W6

Brief: We’ve worked with M Projects before on similar refurbishments so we already knew the high standards they expect of all materials and craftsmanship. Here the aim was to combine quality fabrics with tasteful furniture in an elegant design to emphasize the traditional features of this Victorian home.

We were approached during the building stage which is ideal to discuss specific needs and have these built into the property where necessary. It can also bring some difficulties as unfinished windows, ceilings and floors can create changes over the course of a project. Something as simple as plastering the ceilings and walls resulted in cutting off the corner of a window in the stairwell, impacting on the measurements and design of the blind.

To overcome these niggles we worked closely with the client and their builders. Everyone was extremely professional and kept open communication so we were able to advance at a good pace for a beautiful finish.

The strong colours and patterns used throughout required a neutral and simple window treatments to incorporate the windows seamlessly into the design. Luxor is a textured linen-blend fabric used in the Reception in Pebble and in the Master Bedroom in Natural. The viscose helps the fabric to hang well and minimises creases for a more polished look.

The Second Bedroom features a bold Palm Jungle wallpaper from Cole & Son. The doors are framed with a discreet hollow acrylic pole and inverted pleat curtains in crisp cotton Lugano in the off-white Ricepaper. The soft feel and sharp tailoring of the Lugano lends itself well to the roman blinds of the basement bedroom where strong contrast bottom and side borders reinforce the geometry and structure of the space.
