Project Summary:
The design process focused on integrating the clients' South African and Columbian heritage into a Victorian home, using a central glazed courtyard to blend light, greenery, and diverse materials, creating a space of tranquillity and playfulness. Innovative design elements like an adaptable atrium, relocation of the primary bedroom to the loft, and custom joinery ensured the home was functional, practical, and stylish. Visual and textural contrasts along with sustainable practices like natural ventilation and local material sourcing highlighted the home's blend of tradition and modernity. The project fulfilled the clients' desire for a light-filled, functional, and ecologically conscious home, emphasising detailed craftsmanship and cultural resonance.
