Embracing the process: how Ecohardwood oak flooring is made
It may take some time to bring Ecohardwood floors from factory to home, but the results are well worth it. We take pride in their slow drying and oiling processes, hand-selected raw materials, and expert craftsmanship. Let's explore how these elements combine to create wood flooring that is extremely durable and hardwearing, moisture and humidity resistant, ideal for underfloor heating, non-toxic and safe and stands the test of time.
The slow drying: a recipe for quality
At Ecohardwood, we understand the importance of patience when it comes to creating exceptional flooring. The Belgium technology slow drying oak process employed by Ecohardwood offers numerous advantages. Firstly, it reduces the risk of internal stresses in the wood, which can lead to structural issues over time. Secondly, it enhances the overall dimensional stability of the flooring, making it less susceptible to expansion or contraction caused by changes in temperature and humidity. Lastly, the slow drying process promotes better oil absorption, allowing for enhanced colour vibrancy and depth. There is hardly another manufacturer with a drying cycle that lasts an average of 35 days. This meticulous approach may lengthen the production timeline, but the rewards in terms of quality and durability are worth the wait.
Tailor-made wood floor colours: nine steps to perfection
When it comes to achieving the perfect desired colour, Ecohardwood goes above and beyond. Multiple layers of oil are applied, sometimes combining different shades to achieve the desired effect. This attention to detail ensures that every plank of Ecohardwood oak flooring is a work of art, tailored to meet individual preferences. For example, the Cascade oak wood flooring colour was exclusively created by the talented Enrico Pisseli and is inspired by Tuscany. With our nine-step process for tailor-made colours, we offer a wide range of options to suit every style and taste. From rich and warm hues to subtle and natural tones, Ecohardwood ensures that each customer finds the perfect colour that complements their space flawlessly.
The significance of the oiling process
The oiling process is a vital aspect of oak wood flooring manufacturing, and at Ecohardwood, we recognize its importance. By applying eco-friendly SAICOS oil made in Germany by hand and allowing it to be absorbed naturally, we create flooring that surpasses expectations in terms of durability, aesthetics, and environmental responsibility.
It takes 100 years for an oak tree to mature (but you don't have to wait that long)
For Ecohardwood flooring manufacturing, we exclusively use oak trees that have reached a remarkable milestone—being 100 years or older. Oak trees, like fine wine, become more extraordinary with age. By selecting oaks that have surpassed the century mark, we tap into the immense potential that comes with maturity. These majestic trees have weathered decades of growth, adapting to their surroundings and developing a unique strength and resilience. Though still sturdy and robust, they have already reached their peak in life expectancy. It is an extraordinary example of nature's circle of life: when a mature oak tree is repurposed as a sustainable material for construction of our homes and buildings, the younger trees grow in its place.
