Zentia - Sound Advice: Limiting noise annoyance in buildings

In this presentation, we will be looking at why creating healthy acoustic environments is important and how the acoustic performance of suspended ceilings and wall absorbers can assist with this. The science behind the tests and standards will be explained including what the Building Regulations and sector specific requirements are, and how these requirements can be fulfilled. The aim is to provide the audience with a level of knowledge on the topic that will enable them to specify suspended ceiling systems with confidence, and know when to seek further guidance. 

Learning objectives - by the end of this CPD, delegates should: 

  • Have an understanding of why, how, what in relation to the acoustic performance of suspended ceiling systems and wall absorbers.
  • Have gained knowledge on the science behind sound absorption and attenuation.
  • Have recognition of the different routes to compliance with regulations.

Crown Paints - Colour Design for Dementia & Inclusive Colour for Equality Act

This joint CPD will introduce interior designers to legislations that are applicable when using colour in spaces, with key information on visual references to tonal contrasts and surfaces. 

Learning objectives - by the end of this CPD, delegates should: 

  • To understand the legal framework which is the Equality Act and the code of practice references
  • To understand how colour can be involved as part of design considerations
  • To understand the importance of tonal contrast and surfaces for an inclusive space

The second part of this interactive CPD examines common symptoms of dementia and how the built environment can exacerbate these or help those with dementia to live well. Additionally, this CPD will offer a greater understanding of how the implications of dementia can help guide the design within a care setting.

Learning objectives - by the end of this CPD, delegates should: 

  • Introduction to how using colour, texture and material can create a holistic environment for all to enjoy, feel safe and confident
  • To understand the implications of dementia with considerations at the design stages
  • To understand impact on the senses and orientation
  • To understand the effects of visual & physical impairment and key considerations for designing including LRV (Light Reflectance Value)
  • To understand colour through the lens of a dementia client and design principles when promoting independent living
